All in flowing white and shyly hiding under a veil, this lovely lady’s portrait conveys a somewhat melancholy mood. Artist Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807) perhaps captured this pretty lady just before her wedding day or other momentous time in her life. She holds an oil lamp in one hand and her veil in the other.
