K

The only thing these two famous K artists have in common is that their surnames both begin with the letter K.

The first artist was Angelica Kauffmann(1740-1807) a Swiss and Austrian painter who specialized in historical paintings and fine portraits.

Our second ‘K’ artist is Kim Hong-do (1745-c.1806), a Korean artist from the Joseon Era who is most loved by the Koreans for his depictions of daily life. One of his works, which we showcase on The Famous Artists is designated as the 139th National Treasure of South Korea.
