Peonies in Vase Still Life

…by the famous artist Edouard Manet

still life painting by Edouard Manet

Painted between 1864 and 1865, this still life painting by Edouard Manet (1832-1883) depicts a vase with white peonies and other scarlet flowers. Some of the flowers droop, one lays on the tabletop and a group of dropped petals show the bouquet may be a bit past its prime but remains beautiful nonetheless.
