I’m not sure I see the “village beyond” in this Dutch painting by Jacob Xavery (1736-1769) but I do see the Dutch flag waving from the mast of one of the sailing ships. Regardless, it’s a lovely painting of several tall-masted sailing ships making their way in a choppy sea as dark clouds begin to gather in the sky. One hopes they are all on their way to a friendly port where they can safely ride out the pending storm.
